The Cazenovia Area Community Development Association (CACDA) has named Barbara Henderson of Oneida as its director. CACDA is a community organization supported by the Greater Cazenovia Area Chamber of Commerce and area residents, according to Chamber president Paul Brooks. In the Post-Standard article linked above, Brooks is quoted as saying that CACDA could get involved in land-use initiatives, zoning changes and grant applications that benefit the larger community. Counterpoint is provided by Cazenovia Mayor Tom Doughterty, who believes that CACDA is a "special interest group" interested in perpetuating itself through the acquisition of grant monies.
These are indeed interesting times to be a Cazenovian; it seems that lines are being drawn that may separate us for years to come unless a consensus builder can emerge to quiet the rhetoric and help us recognize our common ground.
