Control panel fails leaving dishes dingy in CazenoviaResidents who get their water from the village of Cazenovia may notice their dishes and clothes aren’t getting as clean as usual. That’s because the water is hard, village officials said.
A 15-year-old control panel that regulates four water softeners on the water system has died, village Trustee Troy Waffner said.
Water is hard when it has a high concentration of dissolved minerals, such as calcium. The minerals reduce the effectiveness of soaps. Hard water is safe, even healthy, to drink.
The village will rebuild the panel over three to four weeks at a cost of about $12,000, Waffner said.
