The New York Times visits Syracuse

Amazingly, this article is only mostly condescending. Especially the photo of the goofy porcupine as the example of the art to be found in the downtown Everson museum.

For the record, I've been here for ten years and have never heard anyone "boast" (nor even mention) that the city is the birthplace of the serrated knife and the dental chair.

Nevertheless, they hit some of the more interesting and authentic local attractions, including Shifty's, Middle Ages Brewing Company, Angotti's, and Dinosaur. Nods to the straightedge and urban culture scenes are also nice.
