Cazenovia, N.Y. – Get a jump on your career in law enforcement – attend the New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) approved and certified Phase I Police Basic Training Academy at Cazenovia College, offered on a part-time basis by the College’s Center for Continuing Education.Posted by jimj at June 6, 2006 02:26 PM | TrackBackThe program is designed to prepare civilians and non-sworn personnel to enter the law enforcement field as police officers. An informational meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 28 at 6 p.m., at the Kirkland Senior Citizens’ Center on New Street in Clark Mills, N.Y. Classes are scheduled to begin on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006. Class size is limited to 25 students, prioritized by date of application. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. Cazenovia College began the program in 2004, in partnership with the Little Falls Police Department. To date, more than 30 individuals have successfully prepared for the second phase of police training at Cazenovia College, and 22 graduates are now serving in various areas of law enforcement.
The curriculum meets all requirements established by the Municipal Police Training Council and is approved by the Veterans’ Administration. Graduates of the program receive a transcript and certificate indicating completion of Phase I of the Police Pre-Employment Basic Training and that they have met every standard required by a full-time basic police academy, including physical fitness, attendance and academics. Successful graduates also receive 15 credit-hours toward a college degree.
