Focus on Rural New York

The deeply informative (and unabashedly partisan) blog Danger Democrats! features an very interesting angle on Cazenovia's US Congressman, John McHugh. McHugh is a co-sponsor of house legislation that would exempt giant factory farms from certain Superfund pollution standards. The pollutants in question are manure and the gases relased when manure is stored in large quantities. Pollution standards (under other statutes) would still apply to the smaller farms (e.g. the family farms still common in Cazenovia and Madison County). In other words, it appears that McHugh supports legislation that protects factory farms to the detriment of family farms.
