Madison County: towns declare state of emergency; Onondaga County: warning continues
Storms tonight saturated the southern part of Madison County, prompting two towns to call states of emergency.Officials in Georgetown and Hamilton shut down their towns after heavy rains and high creek waters flooded roads and downed trees. Despite the damage, county emergency dispatchers said no serious injuries were reported.
In Onondaga County, a flash flood warning continues until 11:30 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The heaviest rain in the county so far has fallen over the southeastern portion. Flash flooding is most likely south of Lafayette, Pompey and Oran, the weather service said.
