In sad news for the Cazenovia community, the museum of Franklin automobiles will not be moving from Arizona to Cazenovia.
Apparently one of the trustees of the museum sued the other six board members for breach of fiduciary responsibility - and won. The other six were forced to resign from the board, and the museum will remain in Tucson.
For a Tucson perspective on the issue, here's a letter to the editor of the Tucson paper; it was published today:
Congratulations and thank you to Bourke Runton, Chris Cunningham and Eric Hagar for ensuring that one of Tucson's treasures remains here. Their months of efforts resulted in the Board of Trustees honoring the founder's express wishes by abandoning their determination to move the (Franklin) museum to New York state.Posted by jimj at September 5, 2006 09:56 AM | TrackBackNow it is time for the residents of Tucson to visit and support the museum and to emphasize the importance of its location in Tucson. Known to tourists and car clubs, the museum needs the people of this area to reinforce the positive presence of the facility. Located at a beautiful site at 1405 E. Kleindale Road, between Prince Road and Fort Lowell Road, the museum houses classic Franklin automobiles and unique memorabilia. It is there for all of us to enjoy.
