Fire Damages Cazenovia Farmhouse

From today's Post-Standard Extra:

Fire damages Caz farmhouse

A fire damaged an old farmhouse on a Cazenovia dairy farm this morning.

Owner Paul Pushlar said the fire started in the basement and shot up the hollow walls to the second floor and attic. Firefighters from four companies put out the blaze at 2565 Fenner Road before it could spread to several nearby barns. No one was hurt.

Pushlar said his wife called to him about 7:30 a.m. saying there was a fire in the basement. By the time he got downstairs, he said, the smoke was so thick he couldn't see.

"I could hear the fire crackling, but I couldn't see any flames to use the fire extinguisher," Pushlar said.

Pushlar said the house is about 100 years old.
