Election Results

In the state senate's 49th district, voters chose incumbent Democrat David Valesky over challenger Jeff Brown.

Incumbent Democratic assemblyman Bill Magee ran unopposed and obviously won.

Timothy Moore won unopposed election as Cazenovia's town justice.

Ron Cary won unopposed election as county sheriff.

Republican/Conservative Cindy Edick beat Democrat Bruce Coe for county treasurer.

Republican/Conservative John McHugh defeated challenger Bob Johnson.

Within the county, Republican Dennis McDermott was ahead of Democrat Elizabeth Garry, but Garry won the overall race for the State Supreme Court Justice seat.

While Republican/Conservative Jeanne Pirro outpolled Democrat Andrew Cuomo for attorney general among Madison County voters, Cuomo easily won election in the statewide vote.

Similarly, Republican/Conservative Chris Callahan beat Democrat Alan Hevesi in our county, but lost statewide. Hevesi faces probable dismissal stemming from his use of a state employee to chauffer his sick wife.

Hillary Clinton was re-elected as US Senator from New York, defeating John Spencer. Her vote total was higher than Spencer's in Madison county, too.

Eliot Spitzer easily outpolled John Faso in both Madison County and the state overall, and will be the next governor of the state of New York.

Countywide results are also available.
