There's a great article on Harris Cleaners and its owners, Fred and Margaret Harris, in today's Post-Standard. The business was severely damaged by fire last spring; all of the clothes and most of the equipment were a total loss.
Rather than close up shop or relocate, Fred and Margaret decided to take the opportunity to rebuild. They will no longer run a wholesale cleaning operation, but instead will have a laundromat, a storefront for a dry cleaner's, and the possibility of rented space for other tenants.
Additionally, the storefront has been completely redone to look more like a historic, attractive "main street" facade.
The next time you drive down Albany Street, take a moment to think about the energy and investment that is going into that space - it's really great to see business owners and citizens step up to make something better.
