House destroyed, nobody injured in house fire in the town of Cazenovia

A town of Cazenovia house was destroyed by fire this afternoon when embers from a wood stove ignited debris, according to the town’s fire chief.

Chief Thomas Tait said the two-story residence, at 3428 East Road, was fully involved when he arrived at the scene just after noon.

“We immediately went to a defensive attack,” Tait said.

He said no one was injured and the home’s residents and their pets all got out safely.

Tait said the home is owned by Grace Selleck. He said there is a separate building on the property that houses the Hi Neighbor Pennysaver. The business was not affected by the fire, he said.

Firefighters from Cazenovia, New Woodstock, Erieville, DeRuyter, Fabius and Delphi Falls responded to the blaze, Tait said.
