Cartoonist and Endicott native Johnny Hart ("B.C.", "The Wizard of Id") has died at age 76. I'm from the Southern Tier of New York originally, and I grew up devouring comic strips. While I wasn't always a fan of Hart's specific messages, his comics had a combination of humanity and slapstick that appealed to me. Hart contributed significantly to the greater Binghamton region with cartoonish art and themes for local events and organizations - including the Broome County parks department, the B.C. Open, and the Spiedie Festival.
Update: Johnny Hart is remembered by the Binghamton-area Press and Sun-Bulletin newspaper; the biographical article features comments by colleagues and family members.
