The LWV Forum for Village Trustee Candidates was attended by about 50 people. Mayor Tom Dougherty, unopposed incumbent for Mayor, was unable to participate as he had a previous commitment to attend a Mayor’s Conference in Saratoga Springs. He sent a statement that was read aloud by one of the League member’s on his behalf after the rules of the forum were thoroughly explained. The 3 candidates running for 2 Village Trustee seats, Russ Brownback, Tom Tait and Dave Vredenburgh comprised the forum panel. Each candidate was allotted equal time, strictly monitored by a LWV member, for an opening statement. Questions submitted on cards from the audience were then asked of all three candidates, who again each had equal time to answer. Some of the topics the questions covered included Route 20 development, Village business district growth/support, Village and college relationships on projects, and visions for the former Town Highway garage. Each candidate then had equal time for a closing statement before the final remarks by the LWV representative.
