The Cazenovia Town Board has scheduled a public hearing for August 23 at 7 PM to allow residents to voice their opinions about changing the highway superintendent position to be appointed by the town instead of elected by residents. According to target="_blank">this Post-Standard article, the town is taking this action after the previous superintendent engaged in activities that have drawn investigations by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), requiring the town to spend significant time and money to address and clean up. New highway superintendent Tim Hunt drew praise from board member Pat Race in the article, for Hunt's efforts to work with the DEC and get the department back on track.
