According to the Post-Standard, Cazenovia's high school and middle school have been locked down as of 1:15 PM today (Wednesday 3/26/08). Students will be dismissed at the normal time. Here's the full text of the article:
Cazenovia High School and Middle School were placed under a lockdown at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to a release from Superintendent Robert Dubik.Dubik said the action was a "precautionary measure due to a threat."
Students and staff were safe and secure, Dubik said, adding that he anticipated that all students, including those at Burton Street Elementary, would be dismissed from school at the normal time.
Update from WSTM (Channel 3) website at 5 PM:
CAZENOVIA -- Update: The Cazenovia High School and Middle School have dismissed for the day, and there are no after-school or evening activities. School officials tell Action News that a hand-written threat was found which initiated the lockdown. Superintendent Robert Dubik tells us that whomever made the threat will be prosecuted both criminally and within the school's disciplinary system.
Update from the Post-Standard in this morning's paper says that a note was found in a bathroom reading "Bomb In School", so the school was locked down and searched. Nothing was found; school and local authorities are looking for the perpetrator(s).
