Fused Glass Jewelry Class – $84

Inst: A. Blanding
Wednesdays, Sept. 1 and 8, 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Learn the art of fusing glass to create one-of a-kind pendants, earrings, and pins. Each student will make five different pieces plus learn to wire wrap and attach bindings to complete them. Beginning Backpacking Essentials Class – $84

Inst: C. Bonnie Everhart
Sundays, Sept. 5 and 12, 10 a.m. – noon
Sunday, Sept. 19, 9 a.m. – noon (rain date: Sunday, Sept. 29)

The class includes two 2-hour classroom sessions and a day hike with packs on the Cazenovia Gorge Trail. Classroom topics include pre-trip planning, what to wear, boots, gear selection (packs, tents, sleeping bags, filters, stoves, and more), food selection, basic wilderness first aid, leave no trace, what to pack, and more. Digital Photography I – $36

Saturday, Sept. 11, 9 a.m. – noon

Did you just buy a digital camera but have absolutely no idea how to use it? This workshop is designed for users of basic point-andshoot style digital cameras. Students will become familiar with the camera’s features and how to use them to create desired results. The workshop will begin with an overview of the camera features and functions, followed by a discussion of how to avoid common photographic errors and make your images better.

Advanced techniques in fused glass jewelry includes learning metal, copper, and silver/gold leaf inclusions, dichroic glass etching, and dicro slide designs. Log Cabin Quilt Class – $149

Wednesdays, Sept. 15 through Oct. 13, 7 – 9:30 p.m.

Want to learn how to make a traditional Log Cabin Quilt? The Log Cabin Quilt is an easy and versatile pattern to learn for beginners. Learn how to machine speed-piece your fabric strip ‘logs’ and make a beautiful quilt. Learn to arrange your blocks in different patterns to give each quilt a unique look. Students need to have basic sewing skills. Supply list will be provided prior to first class. You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine to class.

Digital Photography II – $36

Saturday, Sept. 18, 9 a.m. – noon

You own a digital camera and you’re comfortable using it, so how do you make your pictures better, and what do you do with them after you’ve shot them? This workshop will take a more in-depth look at photographic composition and preparing your images for e-mailing and printing. A Taste of France – French Wine Basics Class – $55

Wednesday, Sept. 22, 6 – 8 p.m.

Location: The Brewster Inn, Cazenovia

This class will feature a liquid geography of France’s wine regions: Alsace, Burgundy, Bordeaux, Rhone and Southern France. We will sample, compare, and learn about French wine culture. Digital Photography,  Intermediate/Advanced -$36

Saturday, Sept. 25, 9 a.m. – noon

This workshop is an in-depth discussion of the guiding principles of photography and the use of these principles to achieve desired results. Discussion of the features of more sophisticated cameras and the manipulation of these features will be the key element of this workshop. Beginning Guitar Class – $99

Inst: J. Pettigrass, C. Orlando
Mondays, Sept. 27 through Oct. 18, 7 – 8:15 p.m.

Learn the basics on how to play a guitar with group and one on one instruction. Learn how to tune a guitar and purchase the correct instrument. It is not necessary to learn how to read music for this course. Students must have their own guitars; those who need one may call for assistance in choosing and acquiring the correct guitar. Planning the Perfect Wedding Class – $96

Decorative Wire Wrapping for Everyday Objects Class – $42

Inst: A. Blanding
Wednesday, Sept. 29, 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Learn to capture found objects with wire! Amber will provide students with a variety of jewels to choose from, such as sea glass, stones, shells, crystals or bring your own precious objects. Students will leave with at least 3 wire-wrapped pendants! $10 supply fee payable to the instructor includes all materials and base metal wire. Sterling silver and gold filled wire will be available to purchase. Class limited to 6. (1 class) Contact Sherri Bendict at  655-7101

Demolition of historic Cazenovia home meets resistance

Developer David Muraco is anxious to see a historic building (the “Enders House”) he owns at the town/village edge removed as quickly as possible:

THE THREAT: David Muraco, the developer/owner of the Enders property, has applied to the Town Planning Board to tear down the Historic Places Registered Zephnia Comstock House located on the property. This is the first step in a plan to use the property for a NICE N EASY gas station/convenience store or the like.

Historic Enders House may be demolished

An early 1800′s home listed on the National Register of Historic Places is set to be demolished soon. Commonly known as the “Enders House”, the home’s historical significance stretches back to 1830.
