A new law in the Village of Cazenovia serves up a stiff punishment: a maximum $500 fine for hosting an underage drinking party. The second offense could mean two weeks in jail.

Tonight, the village of Cazenovia’s board made “Social Host” a law. The law says that any property owner will be ticketed if he/she knowingly allows consumption of alcohol on his/her property by any person under the age of 21. A first offense is punishable by a fine. More than 2,700 Facebook users are protesting Gov. David Paterson’s proposal to close Chittenango Falls State Park.

Many sources reported this week that numerous state parks and historic sites, including Chittenango Falls in Cazenovia and Clark Reservation in Jamesville, may be closed in order to meet the governor’s requested $29,000,000 in cuts to state park funding.
