Two Cazenovia elementary school students have confirmed cases of the swine flu, school and health officials reported.

What in the world does this mean?
Late on Friday, Health Secretary Jose Angel Cordova announced the confirmed death toll from the virus had risen by one, to 16.
“The mortality rate isn’t as great as could be expected,” said Mr Cordova. “The majority of the deaths are women.“

As the H1N1 flu virus continues its slow spread, Cazenovia and other local school districts are taking action. Students (including my daughter) were sent home yesterday with a letter from the superintendent explaining what the school is doing and what families need to do too.
