A new law in the Village of Cazenovia serves up a stiff punishment: a maximum $500 fine for hosting an underage drinking party. The second offense could mean two weeks in jail.

Tonight, the village of Cazenovia’s board made “Social Host” a law. The law says that any property owner will be ticketed if he/she knowingly allows consumption of alcohol on his/her property by any person under the age of 21. A first offense is punishable by a fine. The Cazenovia School District wants to punish any student who is present at any event where alcohol is being served, whether that student is drinking or not and regardless of where the event takes place.
